The diesel engine
The diesel engines established on cars Audi 100, five-cylinder, have much in common with five-cylinder petrol engines Audi. As the diesel engine has no ignition system, for engine start in the chamber of combustion of each cylinder there is a candle накаливания which heats up air in the cylinder. The heating timer provides current giving on candles накаливания both during time, and after engine start. Engines of models CM and OE are equipped, besides, by the device of start of the cold engine which has been built in the fuel pump of 38 high pressures (THBД).
Engines NC and 3D have in THBД the electric heating device for simplification of start of the cold engine.
Hасос creates a high pressure (13–17 MPa), and fuel moves in cylinders. Regulator ТНВД provides giving of fuel depending on position of a pedal of an accelerator.
The combustion chamber has such form that at compression air in the cylinder завихряется: it allows to mix better впрыснутое fuel with air. Before THBД the fuel filter which detains pollution and water is established.
While in service THBД does not demand leaving. The pump is put in action by a gear belt 30 from a camshaft.
The diesel engine is equipped by the electromagnetic valve which stops fuel giving at ignition deenergizing. During diesel engine start at key turn in the ignition lock on this valve pressure through the switch of candles накаливания moves, and the valve opens топливопровод.
